The NBA Remuneration Portal is designed to make property transaction compliance straightforward for NBA Lagos lawyers. This page answers the most common questions about how the portal works, how fees are calculated, and what to expect at each stage of a deal.
The NBA Remuneration Portal is the official digital platform of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos for lawyers managing property transactions. It enforces NBA-mandated remuneration standards by automatically calculating your professional fee, deducting the applicable administrative processing fee, and disbursing your net earnings directly to your registered bank account. The portal also handles deal tracking, document management, and compliance certificate issuance — all in one place.
The portal is exclusively available to lawyers and law firms operating under NBA Lagos branches. You must hold a valid NBA Enrollment Number (also referred to as your SCN) to register and use the platform. If you are not enrolled with NBA Lagos, you cannot create an account.
Supported NBA Lagos branches include Ikorodu, Ikeja, Lagos, Badagry, Surulere, Eti Osa, Epe, and Others.
To register, you need a valid email address and your NBA Enrollment Number (SCN). During sign-up, the portal verifies your SCN against NBA Lagos membership records. Once you submit your details, you will receive a verification email — you must confirm your email address before you can log in.After logging in for the first time, you must complete your KYC profile by selecting your NBA Lagos branch and linking a bank account. You cannot create deals until this step is complete.
Check your spam or junk folder if the verification email does not arrive within a few minutes.
The portal supports the following NBA Lagos branches:
  • Ikorodu
  • Ikeja
  • Lagos
  • Badagry
  • Surulere
  • Eti Osa
  • Epe
  • Others
You select your branch during the KYC profile setup. If your branch does not appear in the list, select Others.
The NBA professional fee is set at 10% of the property transaction value. This is the NBA-mandated minimum remuneration standard for property transactions handled by NBA Lagos lawyers. For example, on a ₦50,000,000 property transaction:
  • NBA professional fee = ₦5,000,000 (10%)
Your net disbursement is the professional fee minus the administrative processing fee (see the next question).
The 10% rate is the NBA-mandated minimum. Individual lawyers and law firms may charge a higher rate where agreed with the client — see the question on higher fees below.
The portal charges a small administrative processing fee on the NBA professional fee earned. The fee is tiered based on the transaction value:
Transaction valueAdmin fee rate
Up to ₦100,000,0001% of the professional fee
₦100,000,001 – ₦700,000,0000.75% of the professional fee
Above ₦700,000,0000.5% of the professional fee
Using the same ₦50,000,000 example:
  • Professional fee = ₦5,000,000
  • Admin fee (1%) = ₦50,000
  • Net disbursement = ₦4,950,000 (99% of the professional fee)
The administrative fee is deducted automatically before disbursement. You do not need to calculate or pay it separately.
Once a deal is fully approved and payment is confirmed, your net professional fee is disbursed to your registered bank account. Disbursements are processed same-day or by T+1 business day, depending on your bank and the time of day the deal is completed. To receive disbursements, your bank account must be verified and saved in your profile before the deal is approved. You can update your bank details in Settings, but changes may affect pending disbursements.
Make sure your bank account details are correct before a deal reaches the APPROVED status. Disbursements sent to an incorrect account cannot be recalled instantly.
Installment payment schedules may be available depending on the deal structure. When a deal reaches AWAITING_PAYMENT status, the payment invoice will show the available payment options. If installments are configured for your deal, you will see a breakdown of payment milestones on the invoice page.Contact the support team through the portal if you need to discuss a specific payment arrangement.
You can upload documents during the deal creation flow or through the Documents section of a deal’s detail page after it has been created. Accepted documents typically include title deeds, surveys, valuations, and other legal instruments required for the transaction.Once uploaded, documents are reviewed as part of the deal approval process. The deal status will reflect the current stage — for example, a status of AWAITING_VALUATION means you still need to submit valuation documents before the deal can progress.
Upload all available documents during deal creation to avoid delays. You can add more later, but uploading everything upfront speeds up the review process.
Yes. The 10% professional fee is the NBA-mandated minimum standard. If you and your client have agreed to a higher remuneration rate, you can record the higher amount in the deal. The portal will calculate and disburse based on the value you enter.
Any fee above the NBA minimum must still comply with your professional obligations and the terms agreed with your client. The portal does not verify or limit the agreed fee — that responsibility remains with you.
When a deal reaches APPROVED status, the portal triggers the disbursement of your net professional fee to your registered bank account. You will also be able to download your compliance certificate from the deal’s detail page once the transaction is fully completed and payment has been confirmed. The deal progresses through the following statuses:
  1. PENDING — submitted and awaiting initial review
  2. AWAITING_VALUATION — pending valuation documents
  3. AWAITING_PAYMENT — invoice generated; payment required
  4. APPROVED — deal complete; disbursement initiated
  5. CANCELLED — deal closed without completion
Your compliance certificate is issued automatically once your deal reaches APPROVED status and payment has been fully confirmed. You can download it from the deal’s detail page. Certificates serve as official NBA Lagos documentation of your compliant property transaction.
If your certificate does not appear after the deal is approved, refresh the page. If it is still missing after 24 hours, contact support through the portal.
Yes. The portal allows you to export your transaction and deal records for reporting and accounting purposes. Look for the export option within the Transactions or Deals sections of the portal. Exported records are typically provided in a standard spreadsheet format.
On the login page, click Forgot Password and enter your registered email address. You will receive a password reset link by email. Click the link, then enter and confirm your new password.
The reset link expires after a short period. If the link has expired, return to the login page and request a new one.
Go to Settings in the portal and navigate to the bank account section. Enter your new 10-digit account number and select your bank — the portal will resolve and display your account name for confirmation. Save the changes once verified.
Updating your bank account details while a disbursement is in progress may affect where the funds are sent. Make changes between transactions where possible.
