Compliance certificates are issued automatically by the NBA Remuneration Portal when a deal is fully paid and approved. A certificate serves as official confirmation that the property transaction was handled in compliance with NBA Lagos remuneration standards — that the correct professional fees were charged, collected, and disbursed. You will need this certificate as part of your professional records and may be required to present it for regulatory purposes.

When a certificate is issued

The portal issues a certificate only after both of the following conditions are met:
  1. All payments are completed — every installment (or the full amount, for single-payment deals) has been successfully processed and confirmed
  2. The deal is approved — the deal status has reached APPROVED, meaning the platform has verified the transaction is fully settled
Until both conditions are satisfied, no certificate is available. A deal in AWAITING_PAYMENT or any earlier status will not have a certificate, even if some installments have been paid.

How to access your certificate

Once a deal reaches APPROVED status, you can access its certificate in one way:
  • In your email — once a deal is approved and all payments are completed, a Compliance Certificate is issued to you via email

Certificate contents

Each compliance certificate includes:
  • Deal reference — the unique identifier for the transaction
  • Property details — the address and type of the property transacted
  • Lawyer and party information — the names of the parties to the transaction and the handling lawyer
  • Fee confirmation — the professional fee assessed and disbursed, confirming NBA remuneration compliance
  • Compliance statement — a formal declaration that the transaction was processed through the NBA Remuneration Portal in accordance with NBA Lagos standards
  • Issue date — the date the certificate was generated
Keep a copy of every certificate in your own records as well as in the portal. Certificates may be requested during NBA audits, property registration processes, or any regulatory review of your professional conduct.
Certificates are only generated after all payments for a deal are fully processed. If you have paid all installments but the certificate is not yet available, the deal may still be undergoing final approval. Allow one business day and refresh the deal detail page. If the issue persists, contact support with your deal ID.
